Consider Car Shipping When Moving Abroad

Upping sticks and starting life in an entirely new country is usually fraught with a number of potential hurdles along the way

. The first priority is usually finding suitable accommodation for yourself, your partner and any children who might be making the journey with you, and then there are jobs, education, healthcare and all sorts of other things to attend to. Once youve got all that out of the way, you can get down to the business of actually organising the move itself and the whole process can cost a pretty penny. However, you can save a bit of cash by shipping your car to your new home rather than splashing out on a different one after your move.

The primary benefit of car shipping is that it saves you from having to find more money to pay for a new vehicle once youve arrived in your new country. The financial burden of relocation is not inconsiderable, and is one of the main reasons some people who would otherwise be interested in emigrating choose not to do so. You may think that simply selling your car before making the move could solve the problem, but its well worth bearing in mind that motors depreciate rapidly in value once theyve been driven off the dealers forecourt. If you try to sell your car, you could well find that you have real trouble finding a buyer prepared to pay the sort of money you want for it.

Once youve decided to have your car shipped to your new home, its time to decide which form of transportation is best suited to your needs and, crucially, your budget. If you arent moving across water, there is the option of having it brought to you by road. While this may be relatively affordable, it tends to prove time-consuming as cars are transported by truck, with many different stops along the way as individual vehicles are dropped off with their owners. Depending on where your home happens to be located, it could be that youre right at the back of the queue and have to wait weeks on end.

If you just cant afford to wait that length of time, then air and sea travel are also on the table. Having your car flown to you is likely to be the most expensive choice, but it is also the quickest and the chances are itll be taken to the closest airport, which makes it easier for you to collect. Shipping is less expensive, but if you live inland it could be that another lengthy journey is required before you can be reunited with your vehicle.
