Business Copywriter – Seduce The Right One…Or Else!

Why on earth would you want to even seduce a copywriter right?
Ill tell you why in a moment.
First a re-cap.
In the last article I laid out exactly who needs a copywriter, and Ill summarise that finely written prose here:
1 Business owners
2 Product owners
3 Any one selling anything anywhere
Now back to todays article
Heres a fact, if you dont have a copywriter on your team, you simply cannot have winning promotions.
In fact if you dont have a good copywriter, your ads will FLOP.
The only way it can FLY is if you write the ad yourself, and you must have had the proper experience or else
Today, Im going to talk about why you need to seduce the RIGHT copywriter to join your business.
After checking out a few copywriters, youll want to pick the one you can click with most easily who has the ability to create regular winners for you.
Youll want to hook this guy because hes good, does a great job, maybe your competition stumbles upon himthen what?
YOURE SCREWED thats what.
Get the copywriter who you can click with to join you on a monthly retainer. Pay him monthly because you want him to stick with your company and not fly off to your competitors.
Imagine you treating him wrongly, all he has to do is pack his pen and move to your nearest competitor.
Think about it for a sec this guy knows your market like the back of his hand, he knows the ins and outs of your industry and everything about your winning promotions.
Whats to stop him from going to your competitor and Xeroxing your winning promotions for them?
Simple YOU are going to stop this golden goose copywriter from going anywhere by PAYING him to stay and keeping him generally happy if hes a golden goose, why not treat him like one.
Were all humans, love our egos to be stroked and such.
A compliment here, a free lunch there. (Likewise, if hes smart hell return the favour)
Keep him in your circle and hell create more winners for you on a consistent basis, the alternative is having him run off to your competition OR getting a brand new copywriter who has to learn the ropes from the start all over again.
This is severely costly.
Heres a quote from a book Ive just read.
Research indicates that hiring new employees can cost between 25% to 200% of their annual salary (to train, hire and allow for time to learn the job). Costs that are more difficult to estimate customer service disruption, loss of morale [snip].
When your copywriter leaves
The new guy has to learn everything from scratch, hes got to accommodate your style and begin from point 0.
Unless youre lucky enough to find someone who is already a seasoned pro in your industry who wants to work with you and who knows all the ins and outs.
This is of course, very rare.
So, moral of the story seduce the right copywriter to join your business.
