Business As Usual Won't Cut It - The Results Of The Fear Of Taking Action

Share: Fear attacks at key points in the business process
. People can be afraid to actually start their business or to start acting in it. They can be afraid of failure which usually translates as worry about what others will think of them. Before they've even started, then when they have, they're afraid of how it will or might end - they worry about the final disaster or final mistake they might make
1 Chronic anxiety. This leads to over-thinking about getting everything right, including before they start. That is, they're trying to ensure the results of their actions ahead of time. They miss the point. They do need to set up systems and processes as soon as they can which ensure the efficient running of their business, and which ensure the results they want. However, unless someone is telling them exactly how to do that in the first place, they'll have to learn, adapt and live with some uncertainty as they test and track their efforts. Even if someone can tell them exactly what to do, they still need to learn how to do things and why they work.
2 Lack of creativity. To be creative in their business, they have to be open to different possible actions and their consequences. They'll need to go with the flow of what's happening and develop ideas and actions from the evidence they get. Fear simply locks down creativity. After all, someone who's afraid is ultimately concerned about survival rather than development.
3 Business as usual. The result of the lock down is that they play safe. They stay within the comfort zone of what they know and have learned so far. Unfortunately, a business and its brand have to stand out from their competition. They have to be noticeable in the first place, and noticeable as being superior in some way. That can't be done by merely having the business turn over like a car engine that produces no power and very quickly stops.
