For infants it: provides a balance of nutrients, protects against chronic disease, provides hormones that promote development, improves cognitive development, protects against infections, reduces the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, reduces the likelihood of food allergies, and introduces a variety of food flavors.
Breast feeding is recommending for at least the complete first year of an infant's life by the American Academy of Pediatrics. One of the most beneficial additions to breast feeding your newborn is the bonding experience you and your baby will make.
