As newborn babies have limited eyesight, bringing your fingers close enough will stimulate the child to focus on the object and follow its movements. The child will soon be able to visually recognize the object that was displayed in front of the eyes. This will also help develop the interactivity skills.
Finger puppets need not be toys bought from expensive stores and instead can be home made easily with a dew colored pens and art paper. The simplest way to play this game is by painting different animal faces on each of your fingers and introducing each of them to the child. Very soon, the child will be able to identify each character and become familiar with all the colors.
Your hand movement from side to side will prompt the child to move the eyes accordingly. While playing the game, it is very important that you keep conversing with the child, introducing the different characters that you have painted and their colors. Without you realizing, babies tend to absorb all the details and remember them.
Newborn babies, often, learn a lot about their new surroundings with the help of free activities like a baby blanket, which could be both fun and educative. Also, with their nurseries filled with baby clothing, toys and other gifts that they received when they were born, children tend to develop awareness to their new surroundings.
Babies always will try and reach out for whatever they can grab and it would be great to allow them have a feel of their soft dresses. Apart from feeling the texture of the cloth, they will also start to identify their dress by its color.
