What Is The Easiest Diet?: Here's How I Found The Easiest Diet For Me (And How You Can Too)
I've been dieting nearly most of my adult and adolescent life and I've tried many many different diet plans from the very severe (cabbage soup diet, Diet Coke and crackers diet), to the sensible (Bob Greene's Best Life Diet, Whole, Natural Foods Diet). It took me a long time to realize that if a diet is not "easy" for your unique personality, you are unlikely to stick with it.
I need to clarify that losing weight isn't necessarily easy. There will always be some changing of negative behaviors in any successful diet and this process can be challenging. I've found that for me, the key is to not go too far outside of my comfort zone. For instance, I love carbs. I get very grouchy if I have to go a long amount of time without at least some carbohydrates, so obviously the South Beach diet was eventually a failure to me. (Although I did give it a good try).
The key for me was to find a diet that, as close as possible, worked with my lifestyle as it is now. It's too hard to change negative behaviors and make huge personality changes all at one time. I also hate to cook. So the whole foods plan which required me to tastefully prepare fresh whole foods was not going to work long term either. I had to be honest about what I could realistically stick with long term. Then I had to find a program that worked the fact that I like carbs, I don't like to cook, and I don't want to make huge food sacrifices.
In the end, the answer for me was Medifast because a good majority of the meals are pre-prepared. You just grab and go. Also, I can have carbs within reason. I love the shakes, bars, oatmeals, crackers and puddings. I have them everyday and am still dropping weight. I do have to prepare a "lean and green" meal everyday but I basically grill lean meat and use bagged veggies. It's been a relativelyeasy diet for me. Your easy diet may be an entirely different diet plan, but be honest with yourself about what you can really stick with long term. In my experience, finding your easiest diet is what will make you successful.
