What Are The 10 Tips For Making A Wedding Toast?

A wedding toast is mandatory to any wedding activity

. Without this, weddings are never complete since it is one of the highlights of the said event. This traditional ritual of toasting expresses honor and goodwill to the newlyweds. The best man normally gives out the wedding toast but the maid-of-honor or your parents may do so.

Wedding toasts starts with a brief message, wishing the couples joy, love, and happiness in their marriage life, then ends it with drinking the champagne or wine. Make sure that the best man has prepared his speech.

To help you on how to perform wedding toast properly, here are some tips to help you out:

1.When you are tasked to do the wedding toast, practice as often as you can on how you are going to perform it from start to finish. Keep in mind that you will be speaking in front of the newlyweds family, friends, and guests. You do not want to disappoint the bride and groom so you should be prepared. When you talk, do it as though it comes out naturally. If you are used to public speaking this will not be difficult for you since you are used to it already.

2.Before you commence your speech, ask the waiter to fill their glasses with champagne or wine. It must be at least half full when you make the toast.

3.Your speech should be direct to the point. Make it short if possible. It gets boring if you give out long speeches. Express what is in your heart, there is no need for elaboration.

4.Your speech should include a little sharing about the newlyweds relationship, how they met or how the groom proposed. Make it interesting for the guests to listen. It will surely attract their attention.

5.Use your sense of humour. This will make your speech interesting and catchy. However, do not overdo this as it might not be funny anymore.

6.When you speak, use your normal tone of voice. For beginners, it will be a little scary so your voice will be quite pitchy but if you practice, this can be avoided. When you use hand gestures, do it in a casual manner.

7.When you speak, it is mandatory to use eye contact. Upon doing this you will be able to connect with your audience and they will be able to feel what you are trying to say.

8.Speak clearly. Do not eat your words or your guests will not understand what you are trying to say. Do not speak in a hurry, just relax and let it come out naturally.

9.When you make your wedding toast, stand up and say your speech. Once you are done, place the glass on your right hand and request the guests to clink their glasses before taking a sip.

10.Your toast should end with saying best wishes and congratulations.
