. For the Roman Catholic religion, marriage belongs to their seven sacraments. Now a day, weddings come in different styles, beliefs, and traditions. It is normally attributed to the culture or norms of each individual to where they belong. Have you ever tried attending a wedding ceremony that is filled with tradition and beliefs? During the Stone Age, wedding is very different from what today. If a person wants to seek protection, a wedding is performed.
Weddings first started in the Nile. This was the beginning of legalizing the union. However, there are no papers or contracts involved. This is merely to ensure that the bloodline and heirs for the empire are kept among their own family.
After the Nile, weddings have then been adopted by all religions and races. They perform the ceremony because of love, protect the bloodline, or money.
The wedding contract and penalizing started in Rome. Augustus was the one responsible for legalizing and penalizing the wedding ceremony of his people. But weddings were not stable then since Augustus allowed having two weddings and one divorce as legal. Today divorce is accepted by some countries and religion except for the Roman Catholic which is actually forbidden.
There are some cultures that practices fixed marriages like in India. Their parents arranged their marriage for their children and choose their son/daughters partners.
Now a day, marriage practices and ceremonies have evolved. Although there are still some cultures who are still observing these traditions, they have at least managed to modify some of the practices. The belief of something new, something old, and something borrowed is still adopted today. The relatives or families of the bride normally provide these things. This kind of practice has been handed down from generation to generation.
No matter how different wedding traditions are being performed, the ceremony still managed to maintain its purpose, which is the union of a man and woman who are bound together in love.
