What Are Realistic Medifast Results?

I'm asked several variations on these questions quite often. People want to know what their Medifast experience is going to be like, how much weight they can reasonably and realistically expect to lose, and how soon can they hope to see results. I can't possibly know all of the variables that are going to contribute to each person's circumstances and outcomes, but I can tell you what studies, testing, and research have indicated happens for many. And, I can also discuss how this diet works and what, in my opinion, makes it work better. I will expand on this in the following article.

What The Company Indicates The Average Result For Medifast Is And What You Can Reasonably Expect: If you go on the Medifast website and go to the FAQ, you'll see that their clinical studies indicate that many folks can lose up to 2 - 5 pounds per week. I suspect that there are probably some people who do worse than this and a few who do better, but this range is probably close to the mean or average.

And by "average," this can also mean that your results are going to fluctuate from week to week, meaning that you might lose 5 pounds one week, but only 2 the next. However, the average of this would be 3.5 pounds in a week, although you didn't hit this actual number either time.

If you watch shows like The Biggest Loser, you know that, even given the same foods, work outs and routines, you can get different amounts of weight coming off weekly for various reasons, but still, the trend is decidedly down, no matter when it comes so that the over all results at the end are quite impressive. Most people pretty much remember their best and worst weeks and the rest kind of become a blur, but what they do know is that their clothing has changed and their body has transformed. This is what ultimately matters.

I find this to be very typical of most folks' Medifast experiences. You might lose a wonderful amount one week so that you are almost giddy over your results. Then the next week it might be followed by only a few. Still, if you just hang in there, you'll likely get your pay off the next week. And, you're mostly losing something every week which toward the end of the month works out to noticeable and significant weight loss. Keep repeating this month after month and then you seriously are on to something.

No matter how much the scale might fluctuate week to week, keep in mind that there are very impressive clinical studies (some from John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health) which indicate that Medifast shows steady and reliable results for many. So long as you follow the program as designed and keep going, there is no reason to think that you are going to be the exception.

What To Do To Get The Medifast Results That You're Going To Most Happy With: Many people will tell me things like "well, I want to be the person that loses five pounds in a week, not the one who loses two." I understand this. And, there are some things that are within your control. You are responsible for one main "lean and green" meal each day. It's important that you don't skip this, as tempted as you may be to do so.

You need this to keep your metabolism where it should be. However, you do have a choice as to which foods you chose to include here. They want you to have one protein and three veggies. All veggies are not created equal, at least as far as carbs are concerned. Some of much higher in carbs than others. Medifast works well and swiftly when you are able to get in ketosis. You will get into ketosis faster and more firmly if you watch your carb intake and drink a lot of water.

Now, most of the foods that you eat are going to be in line with this because the company provides your meals. But you will want to chose low carb veggies for your lean and green meal if getting into ketosis quickly is important to you. This is pretty easy to achieve and for most people, ketosis comes in three to four days. Once ketosis happens, weight loss can begin to come at a more accelerated pace.

Finally, you can bump up a bit more calories burned by also bumping up your movement. They really don't want for you to stress yourself when you are beginning to get into ketosis. But a brisk walk or a bike ride shouldn't be a lot to ask. Now, most of the studies don't consider exercise, but few people can argue that every little bit helps.
