TaylorMade R9 Driver with Fight Contorl Technology Review

TaylorMade R9 Driver a very predictable driver that can be customized to individual swings. If a person has trouble closing the face an impact resulting in a push or a slice, then the face angle as well as the center of gravity can be adjusted to correct for swing flaws. The head felt good, sounded good, and looked good. I was extremely pleased with how the R9 performed on our TrackMan launch monitor, and it met or exceeded all of my expectations.

There are only a couple of downfalls to TaylorMade R9 Driver. The 420cc sized head isn't as forgiving as a 460cc head, even with all of the adjustability. TaylorMade has release a 460cc version with the adjustable hosel, but without the adjustable weights for the person who does need the extra forgiveness. An individual who buys the driver without being properly fit may not know how to adjust the club, or what setting they may need. An individual may get frustrated because the driver may not perform up to its potential because it's not fit properly.

TaylorMade's R9 driver comes with a 65-gram Fujikura Motore graphite shaft with a High Inertia Tip for extra kick. Fujikura's proprietary and proven H.I.T stores more energy during the downswing and releases the energy just before impact while maintaining the shaft and club's stability. The result is greater distance and accuracy in all clubs. Motore's "smart" shaping of the tip enables these benefits while minimizing weight, allowing the tip end to accelerate faster than conventional tips.

The science of TaylorMade R9 Driver can be mind-boggling. Yet there is something super efficient about having one driver that can be adapted to a wide variety of conditions. It is easy to see why a 24-in-1 would have appeal to those playing at a high level. The thing that will be interesting to watch is how well received the TaylorMade R9 driver is when it hits wide distribution on March 20. I'm wondering if it gives Pro Shops and Teaching Pros a new line of work making recommendations on clubhead adjustments. Only time will tell.
