. To lose weight is not a simple undertaking. And, when your weight scale does not reflect your efforts, you may feel defeated to the point of abandoning the whole idea of losing weight.

1. Boring, same type of food. Some weight loss diets lack versatility. They consist of a diet plan that uses similar foods at all times. How boring is that? No one can sustain a diet that is dull and unimaginative. This does not bode well for success. Inevitably you will succumb to your cravings and begin to indulge in foods that are detrimental to your weight loss efforts.

2. All or nothing attitude. One of diet mistakes made by many dieters is to discard all of their favorite foods they think may tempt them in the future. It is very difficult to keep a diet if you believe you will never be able to eat your favorite foods. As well, it is unwise to think that all will be lost if you occasionally stray from your diet to lose weight. On occasion give in to your cravings. Eat a small portion of your favorite food. Treat yourself for the work well done!

3. Not eating enough. When on a weight loss diet you should never be hungry. A healthy diet plan is one that ensures you have plenty of food to eat at 5-6 intervals per day. Make sure that you do not change your program's calorie intake specifications. A daily requirement for an average moderately active woman is approximately 2000 calories and for a man about 2500 calories. Generally, when you are trying to lose weight you should eat about 500 less calories than your norm. If you reduce you calorie intake by a higher amount you may endanger your health. Check with your doctor.

We are all bound to have lapses. If you make diet mistakes all is not lost as long as you become aware of them. Try to think why it happened and how you can prevent it from happening again. Do not dwell on it. Continue with your weight loss program. Eventually you will succeed.
