Starting a Low Carb Diet

Of all the diets and supposed weight loss meal plans in the world the low carb diet has proved the most effective for many people

. This dieting plan involves eating nothing special or extremely expensive and all you do is modify what you already eat. This modification is quite simple and works for everyone that outs their effort into it.

Carbohydrates are what our bodies use for energy. We store what we don't use in our body in order to save it for later use. When we store to much we begin to gain weight and if the process continues we gain more weight. The beauty about this diet is that it's based on a simple biological process. If you are taking in more carbs than your body is burning then you simply lower that amount.

You can do this by cutting out foods in your diet that are high in carbs. The first and most effective of these is bread. Removing breads, buns, rolls, and anything else that falls into this category can reduce your carbohydrate intake tremendously. However if you are dependant on bread as an integral part of your meals then you may want to look elsewhere for your carb cutting.

Another method for reducing your intake is to remove all soda from your diet. A single can of soda can have anywhere from 20 to 45 carbohydrates in it, this equals up to four slices of bread in some cases. Of course cutting out the carbs isn't the only thing that you can do to start a low carb diet. You can also prepare great tasting filling meals that have very little carbs in them but still take care of your needs.

Fish and other lean meats can be prepared without breading. There's hardly any carbs in seasoning so feel free to use as much of that as you want to make up for the lack of breading. Increasing your water intake during this diet is also a good thing to do but that's a general idea for any weight loss plan. Other foods to add are foods that are high in fiber, this will keep your stomach moving smoothly and operating efficiently.

As you cut carbs from your body it will begin to burn its internal stores. When you run out you may experience a shaking, irritable, jittery, or just not right feeling. While you can go through this period for some time safely it's not necessary. When this happens eat something with some carbs such as a fruit or a piece of food that you have been denying yourself for a while.

This should restore the balance in your body and make the feeling go away. Remember that as soon as you reach your target weight that you can go back to eating normally but try to keep a balance in what you eat. Losing your weight is only half the goal, keeping it off is the other half.

A low carb diet doesn't have to be a bad thing. While you're denying yourself carbohydrates your body will start relying on the fat and protein that you eat for nourishment. This means that lean meats, cheeses, and other foods that don't have many carbs will be the main body of your meal. Remember to play around with seasonings and recipes, just because you're on a diet doesn't mean that you can't eat well.
