Real Diets For Weight Loss Start With Two Basic Rules

Even among the genuine diets for weight loss, there is a variety of different approaches

. There are different amounts of different things to eat or avoid eating, how many times a day you should eat and so on. The essential ideas among them are the same, though.

Rule Number 1: Eat More Protein

To really kick your diet into gear, you should definitely eat more protein. You do have to be picky, though. This doesn't mean eating more Big Macs.

Animal protein is the best and soy protein is the worst. At the top of your list should be red meat and oysters. Of course, it has to be lean red meat, lean pork and so on. Fat is still fat, but if you do it right, even bacon is okay.

The hardest part is finding a source of organic meat. Commercial grade animal products, including eggs, milk and butter, have additives and higher levels of Omega 6 fatty acids. If purchased organically, they have higher levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, which are the "good fats."

For the vegetarians and vegans, you don't have to quit your low or non-meat diet to lose weight. Yes, it's going to be harder for you than the omnivorous people, but it's not impossible. For some vegetarians, poultry and fish are okay, as long as you remember the organic/wild caught rule. For vegans, organic/non-roasted beans and nuts are your option. For both types, avoid soy at all cost.

Rule Number 2: Cut Your Carbs

You may not know everything you need to know to cut your carbs. We hear all the time about "hidden carbs," so it may not be clear what exactly you should be cutting out of your diet. A good rule of thumb is to eliminate "white foods." Most people only quit eating wheat flour products and blatantly sugary foods, but there's much more to cut.

Dairy products are a major source of hidden carbs. Lactose, an ingredient in milk that many people can"t stomach anyway, is a sugar. In fact, it"s present in all dairy products to such an extent that dairy should not be considered a viable form of protein.

Soy is also another high carb food. In fact, in terms of weight loss, nothing soy should ever cross your lips. It"s high in carbs, usually comes high in salt (another "white food"), and has hormonal precursors that keep you fat.

Burning Fat and the Right Attitude

One thing that is missing in most diets for burning fat is the right mental attitude. All too often, there"s an "all or nothing" attitude. This leads to more failures than anything else does. After all, if you've had a moment of weakness, you've failed, right?

With diets for weight loss, this is completely the wrong attitude to have. You don't have to "start over." You haven't "failed." Don't beat yourself up over it, or you truly will fail. Just pick it up where you left off.
