My Weight Loss Was Over 40 Pounds - Here's 2 Pieces of That Puzzle
In the year 2008 I lost just over 40 pounds.
I can also tell you that I'm really proud because as you probably know by now losing weight isn't easy. But what I can tell you is that is was rather simple. It wasn't just any one thing that got me to the finish line but rather many things that all fell in place like pieces of a puzzle. I want to tell you about two of the most important pieces of that puzzle.
Puzzle piece #1 - Dietary control and exercise.
I know you have heard it before, but they are right you know! All you need to do is watch what you eat and them make sure you are spending more energy than you consume (calories). Sounds simple enough, right? It's actually such an important piece of the weight loss puzzle that if you were to stop reading now and focus on just this BIG part of your life for months to come.. you would succeed in losing a lot of weight. You don't need books and you don't need expensive gym membership fees or equipment. You just need to watch what you eat and what you burn.
Puzzle piece #2 - It's not a diet!
Seriously.. it's not a diet. If you keep calling it diet then I can promise you that you will gain all your weight back and most likely more! You see, diet is a temporary thing. And it will be temporary in you mind, body and soul. What you need is a new lifestyle. Healthier lifestyle - and we both know it. The thing is, when you change you lifestyle you adapt new habits, good habits and hopefully you get rid of the old ones, the bad ones. One of the things I did in the summer of 2008 was just that. And if anybody asked me "are you on a diet?" - I would always answer "No!". For years I went on diets and always gained the weight back real soon. But this time I did something different. I didn't diet. I adapted a new lifestyle, a lifestyle I continue to live to this day and I have not gained on pound back! In fact I've lost more.
Finally, let me promise you this: If I could do it then so can you. I don't have a fast metabolism, I didn't count calories and I didn't go to the gym. I simply change me eating habits and made an effort to exercise more (started with long walks that turned into jogging and later running).
