Banks know and love that Aussie are just lazy by nature!
We are creatures of habit but we can also can be a touch lazy in Australia. We also assume that our bank is looking after us. But they are running a business - and big business at that. I don't really have a problem with that so much - but what I do have a problem with is indifference. You see we make it too easy for the banks - we trundle back to them even when they treat us badly - because we are too lazy to change.
The good thing is that there are lenders who are happy to provide excellent home loans without having to change your bank account - which means you can keep your account and internet banking and ATM card etc - but still get a really good deal (in fact a better deal with no ongoing fees in most cases!).
It's good to keep them honest at least - and look sometimes we need to stay at the bank for ease of security or pricing reasons - but more often than not - banks have become lazy too - and they only seem to do anything about their service proposition when you tell them that you are leaving...and well in my opinion that's too late.
