Money, a Myth dispelled!

Money, a Myth dispelled!

Money, a Myth dispelled!

It is generally agreed that our society is money motivated and in the following article I shall dispel this myth.

Money is a gimmick not a motivation.

It is a smoke screen or to say it a better way, it is a gimmick because we can all easily agree to and accept it. Yet it is only an agreement and just as all Nazis agreed that Jewish people were the root of all evil and their problems doesn't make it true!

Crime, deeds, etc. are usually reasoned out or viewed from the angle of what was in it for the culprit, i.e. financial rewards; please take note, our courts are less lenient on financial crimes than murder, etc. It becomes "all too clear" for the jury when monetary motives come to daylight.

Our obsession to make money as the reason or purpose of any and every act especially crime is blinding us to understand criminals and basic human behaviour.

When it is another "unaccepted" reason, we usually get confused and can't get what the real reason could be. We simply refuse to confront that a deed was done out of non-monetary reasons in fact most things are done, good or bad, without a monetary motive behind it.

In particular, the mere fact of me saying this, will be frightening to a lot of people, I realize, because the "social veneer" (veneer: a facade) that we are all prescribed to, centres so much around the basic agreement that we do it all "just" for money. Imagine for a minute the rich fellow down the street is not money motivated but does it out of spite and hatred to all of us! Uncomfortable feeling to say the least, isn't it!

What are the primary motivations in our society?

In general we class ourselves as a polite, caring and civilised society. However this is just a social veneer that makes it all seem "nice and friendly" but underneath we find something different:

Reactive vindictive-ness expressed as

Anger,

Fear,

Sorrow,

Grief and

Apathy.

The foreman, who hates his workers, making a point of it wherever he can. Soon he is left with the unable ones and feels he has been proven right, once again.

The boss, who antagonises his staff incorrectly, generalises his accusations and loosing sales. He is also proven right that his staff is no good.

The "critic" who states he only means well when informing the painter of his "bad" artwork. The painter gives up and the critic offers support in such un-sympathetic times.

The wealthy man who wails about his misfortune and never listens. One day he is found starved to death with a mattress full of money.

And the apathetic ones who see only pleasure in getting everyone up in arms about their total indifference. No one gets more sympathy, can occupy more people's time than him.

Perhaps you have seen one or two of above motivation in action and couldn't ever make sense. Well you can't. It can also be looked at from a viewpoint of what is best for everyone involved as opposed to what is best only for the person, despite the harm done to others. A person who looks after number one despite the fact that it harms others is vindictive whether chronically or temporarily. You will find him in one of the above categories of motivation. Our society is full of the latter and the state of our affairs is a reflection of just how bad it all has become.

The above motivations are different shades of vindictive-ness but it still doesn't explain the difference between rich and poor. It should be noted that there are people rich or poor who do not fit in below types. However, the waste majority will fit definitely fit in below categories:

The Rich One - Vindictiveness for a reason - The rich one justifies that being vindictive is good because it gets him money and somewhere in life. Being rich is evidence that it worked and he can never be quite sure that he could have done it another way.

The Poor One - Vindictiveness for other reason - The poor or less money-achieving individual is vindictive for non-monetary reasons. He back-stabbed him because he could and not because he gained anything from it. Let's not forget reasons such as "he deserved it", "well if he is that stupid", "he needs a lesson", "that'll teach him", "I don't care" and so.

Most drugs selling is reasoned out by police and public due to the potential of significant monetary gain. Nothing could be farther from the truth and this is one of the reasons why we have never been able to handle the drug problem. Let's make a test. When you see some kids today ask yourself how much money you would have to receive to be willing to slowly kill that child, torture him and his parents, deprive him of his future, happiness and any chance to have a decent life - One million!

Perhaps you would, chances are you are not, after all you would be in the clear, financially but could you live with all the money knowing what you had done?

A drug dealer, does know what he is doing, he is doing it to get even big time. He didn't start out big, he pushed drugs or beaten up the local kid that he knows well. There it started and as with every deed, it gets bigger and bigger till not even the criminal can take it and folds up; he gets caught or killed.

Another point is the lonely life of these drug pushers, none can truly enjoy their riches, they can only experience drug induced heights. They only pretend they do amongst their own peers as they fear that those peers themselves discover their lies and jump the sinking boat they live in.

Everyday of their life they have to worry about being caught or grassed by one of their own; no place will ever feel save. Money is the gimmick used to lure in others unknown as yet. A person in fear can never enjoy their riches or life. It is almost ironic that the criminals drive to make lots of money is coming from his inner effort of being part of society by doing the same as everyone else, striving for wealth. After all he wants to be accepted and this is where we can trace it all back to.

Money isn't the primary motivation of the waste majority of our population. It holds true for the average as much as for the rich or the criminal. It was different when they were kids. So what happened in our childhood that changed it all. How did family parenting, neighbourhood and school affect the child's development?
