You will need yoga clothing that is loose fitting, but not extremely baggy. Loose fitting clothes allow you to move more freely, and allow for breathing space and better blood circulation. You should also choose clothes that you feel comfortable in, and clothes that you won't mind wearing in front of a classroom of people.

You may also want to buy a gym bag for your yoga clothes and equipment, but you should probably wait to buy any props until you know what your instructor will provide for you, and what you are expected to buy for yourself.

Now that you have your clothes, you should sign up for a yoga class. While some people attempt to learn yoga from books and DVD's, you are really better off to take a class taught by a professional instructor. Yoga classes are often available at your local gym or community centre, and some towns have a choice of yoga studios. Find a place and instructor that you find comfortable and appealing.

If you do plan to learn at home, or even if you plan to do extra workouts outside of class, you should decide on a specific time of day to do your workouts and stick to that time.
