How To Keep The Weight Off Once You Lose It

One huge problem for those who lose weight is actually keeping the weight off

. Statistics say that less than 5% of those who meet their weight loss goals actually keep the weight off over the next few years. This means that even those who are successful at losing weight are not successful long term. There are some habits that must be formed to help keep the weight off.

The first thing that must be done for most body types is to build some muscle. Many times during a diet you lose some muscle mass. Whenever you are cutting calories, there is always a chance that some percentage of your weight lost is going to be muscle. This muscle not only needs to be replaced but you need more of it. The more muscle your body has, the more it can continue to burn fat. Once you meet your weight loss goals, set a muscle-building goal.

Another problem that many people fall into is the diet trap. They set a goal to diet a certain way until they meet a goal weight. Once this happens they go back to their previous eating habits. The problem with this is that the previous habits are what led to the weight gain in the first place. Once you hit a goal weight, you need to choose a long-term eating plan that is still somewhat restricted. Add in natural foods over processed foods. Try your best to avoid foods with excessive sugars and fats. If you stay somewhat disciplined in your eating, you can keep that extra weight off.

Check your weight from time to time. If you gain even 5 pounds, go back to your previous diet plan that worked. It will be easier to lose these 5 pounds again than to get lazy and have to lose those 30 pounds again.

Do what you can to learn some of these habits so that all that you can keep all the results of that weight loss.
