How Eating Smaller Meals Will Help You Avoid Being Insanely Hungry While Dieting

When you first go on a diet, you are hungry. Insane hunger is the reason that healthier eating normally fails and your diet goes out the window. You begin to think the amount of food you are eating is not enough, and you believe that you can't survive on the little amount of food you have been allocated. The problem is, before dieting you were used to eating big meals that kept you full for a while, so you are still trying to do that, just with healthier food.

Healthy food gets digested faster than processed or fatty foods. So you become hungrier quicker with healthy food than when you eat an equal size amount of an unhealthy meal. Your large healthy meal probably has a lot of the calories that you are allowed throughout the day, to lose the weight, so you can't eat again after your last large meal. That means no night time snacking, and chances are you will be hungry at night. You feel deprived of food, and wake up the next morning to eat a large meal for breakfast, lunch, and supper that leaves you hungry in between each meal and during the night again.

The problem is you can't snack between meals because that would leave you less calories available for your lunch or supper. So you eat big, suffer in between, and feel starved. Smaller meals don't let this happen.

After a few days of eating smaller meals throughout the day you realize how beneficial it is to helping you lose the weight and stay full. Each meal becomes satisfying instead of over-filling. This satisfaction lasts for a few hours, or more, and then you become hungry again. So you eat another satisfying, low calorie, meal. Then you are satisfied again for a few hours.

After a while your stomach only accepts these smaller meals. Anything more than that will have you reaching for the barf bag as you will feel too full. When you feel full like that you will lose the energy that comes from properly fuelling your body, and you will almost always lose the drive to get out and exercise to burn off the food.

Eating more healthy food, and in more meals, helps you to feel as though you are always eating, and you will feel good after each meal. In fact, you may go to bed sometimes worried that you ate too much when you are dieting because you will actually feel full.

Eating a lot of small and low calorie meals is not just a fad or a diet trick. It is a way life that will help you stay full while you lose the weight and maintain your healthy weight once you get it off.
