How Cardio Can Help Or Hinder Your Weight Loss Goals
Do you think that jogging on a treadmill on an hour every day will help you lose weight and give you the body you're after
? I want to clear this up right now...it just won't! In fact, jogging at a relatively slow pace like that for an hour every day can actually hinder you from losing pounds. So it's time to switch up your cardio routine to get more results in less time. Here's how...
In the past it's been taught that you should hop on the treadmill in order to maintain a healthy body weight and strong heart. While jogging does hold some value, it's definitely not the best way to burn fat off your body.
Since it is a relatively easy exercise and you're doing it for so long, it doesn't actually wear down your muscles very much, and results in a very limited boost in your metabolism, usually lasting for just 1 or 2 hours after the workout.
If instead you do some intense activities like sprinting or weight lifting (yes, even us women!) then your metabolism will get increased for a whopping 1 to 2 days after your workout. This is because the higher intensity exercise does more damage to your muscle tissue and requires more energy to repair. So as your body rebuilds the damaged tissue you will be burning extra calories all day long, even when you're not exercising!
Plus, all you have to do is 20-30 minutes of hard cardio like sprints to get an effective workout. And you should only do them once every two days or so. This will cause you to get a much better workout in about a quarter of the time that you were doing things. No more wasting an hour of every day on the treadmill!
