In this article, I will talk about some of the most common and biggest money-sucking mistakes that network marketers make when they try to get MLM leads. Avoid these mistakes, and you will save yourself a lot of time, frustration and money!
1. More Expensive Does Not Equal Better!: One of the biggest misconceptions amongst newer network marketers looking to get MLM leads, is that the cost of a lead is automatically indicative of the quality of the lead. This is not true in a lot of circumstances, and operating under this belief can cause you to spend a LOT of unnecessary dollars.
While paid traffic (using PPC and other such things) will allow you to get MLM leads faster, don't confuse this type of "paid lead" with buying leads from a broker. If you go down the road of buying leads as your main way to get leads, you will soon discover that you are not getting your money's worth in the long run.
Here's why. First of all, when you get leads by buying them, you are ceding control of a LOT of things (that you want to be in control of), like how the lead was generated, how many times the lead has been pitched and, most importantly, how you are positioned in the eyes of those leads. The most important thing to remember when you are trying to get MLM leads is that you ultimately want to establish a relationship with those leads. It is hard to cultivate a good relationship with someone who doesn't even know who you are!

2. Your Warm Market Is Not As Warm As You Think: Another mistake that most new network marketers make in trying to get MLM leads, is to think that the best source of leads are their "warm market." Putting aside that most people do this because they are told by their upline that this is the best way to get MLM leads, going this route will rarely result in a solid set of leads and will almost always end up costing you a lot of unnecessary expense.
So why wouldn't your warm market be a good way to get MLM leads? After all, these are people you know, right? So wouldn't they want to help you out and want to get in a great business opportunity with you? Actually not really. Here's why. First, you are chasing down your leads and trying to convince them that they want what you have. This is a bad system to get MLM leads all around. You want to attract people who already want what you are offering. Then, even if your convincing does get some of these folks to join your business, you are likely to have a very HIGH dropout rate. Since this warm market approach always involves you spending money on promotional items, product samples, DVDs and other such items, this is a very expensive way to get MLM leads -- and not the best leads by any stretch of the imagination. Think how much it costs you every time one of these folks drops out.
You are much better off learning how to get MLM leads by creating them yourself. You will spend your marketing budget much more effectively, and will end up with much better quality leads in the process.
