Grocery shopping can be enough to make a consumer cry
. It seems food prices rise every week. Food budgets need to be more and more strict for the average household . Saving money on groceries has become more important.
1. Buy the off brand or store brand. Now is not the time to be a name brand snob. Many of the store brand or off brands are the same exact thing as the name brand. The only way to see if you like the off or store brand is to try it and see. They are much cheaper so even if you dont like that particular item you havent wasted much money and if you do find an item you like you will save more money in the long run.
2. Buy big at the meat counter. Buy whole chickens and cut them into parts yourself. Buy family packs of ground beef and divide them into smaller size and freeze.
3. Buy milk when it on sale and freeze it. Some people think you cant freeze milk but is entirely possible. You freeze it in your freezer and pull it out when you are ready to use it. It needs to be thawed halfway in the sink or on the counter at room temperature and then the rest of the way in the refrigerator. Just be sure to shake it before the first use.
4. Grocery stores with bakeries offer great deals with day old products. Everything from doughnuts, bread to cakes. You can save up to 50% on day old products.
5. Use coupons. Some stores double coupons on certain days. If you can use a coupon on a sale item you have really scored!
These are some ways to save money on groceries without compromising your familys nutrition.
