Choosing Your Wedding Party
Wedding parties are part of your wedding celebration
. That is why it is important to determine who are these people that should play an important role in your party. As much as possible make your decisions at least 5 months before the wedding day because these key persons will be with you for most part of your wedding celebration.
Decide the number of people you want to join your party and how many wedding attendants should be made available. Remember that the attendants should be parallel to the size of your ceremony, style, and budget. If you want it to be more private, choose your family and close relatives to join you. Your bridal entourage should come from within this group also so that they will not be insulted if they are not invited to the party and yet you are asking them a favor by being a part of the ceremony.
Decide whether your family or friends should be part of the bridal entourage. If you have a sister, you can ask her to be your maid/matron of honor or your cousin. The sisters or cousins of you and your fiance can be your bridesmaid. For your fianc, his brother can be his best man. If he does not have a brother, he can ask his cousin. Your flower girls, ring bearers, coin bearers can be a combination of you and your fiances nephew and nieces.
If you belong to a small family, you could ask your closest friend to be a part of your entourage. Choose those people who you think are responsible enough to carry out their duties and responsibilities as part of the entourage. They should be there to offer help and support you throughout your wedding planning as well as the wedding day itself. Give each member of the entourage their tasks and keep them well informed about what they are going to do.
Once your wedding party is finalized, organize a small gathering and express your gratitude that they accepted your invitation to be a part of your bridal party. To show how much you appreciate them, you can give them a small token. Tell them about your wedding plans and how they can assist you in fulfilling these goals. If possible, ask for suggestions. Be open to what these people comment about your plans and take it constructively. They mean well and besides you all have a common goal. It might make your wedding be more festive and unique.
