When I was looking for a new digital camera I read several Canon A1100 Reviews but couldn't really tell which were actually from real users and which were just marketing ploys. Despite this I went ahead and bought the Canon and then decided to write my own brief review and compare it to the reviews I had read.
Battery Life - One thing that the Canon A1100 reviews agree about is that battery life with this camera is good and I agree with that. One important factor in my choice of this camera was that it uses normal AA batteries rather than having its own unique battery. I have been caught out in the past when I needed to take pictures but the battery died and I was stuck. The use of AA batteries (which can of course be rechargeable) means that you can easily buy new batteries if necessary or you can borrow them from some other device.
Great Picture Quality - Again, the Canon A1100 reviews seem to agree that this Canon captures great pictures and once again I agree. There are a range of settings you can select to cover particular situations and conditions which means that you can get good results in most circumstances. Generally though you can get good results by letting the camera work automatically.
Usability - The Canon A1100 reviews generally reported that it was very easy to use. I have some concerns about this as, initially, I found it hard to work out what all the buttons did and found that the instructions that were supplied with the camera didn't go into sufficient detail. In some cases I had to search for more information online.
Whilst mostly positive there were a few adverse comments. Some people felt that the viewfinder is a waste of time because it is not particularly accurate when composing a picture. Whilst this is true, I actually think this is a useful feature because any LCD can be difficult to see in bright sunlight. The lack of ability to manually set the aperture etc. was mentioned but this camera is aimed at the point-and-shoot market.
In general I'd have to say that most of the Canon A1100 customer reviews were about right. Once you get the hang of it, it is easy to use and the pictures it takes are high quality.
