Baby Shower Gifts For Dad
When expecting a child most of the attention is rightly focused on the mother
. The father may get some congratulations from his co-workers but the consideration usually ends there. Recently, however, a popular trend has been to give a baby shower gift to dad also. If you want to do something nice for the dad-to-be in your life here are some considerations.
A Male Themed Diaper Bag
Dad is going to take the baby on trips to the store, play dates, out to eat, and the occasional road trip to give mom a break. When he does this he will need a good diaper bag to take along. Usually the one mom has may be somewhat embarrassing for a man's ego. However, a little looking around online will quickly turn up many options for men. Go with an earth tone color that has lots of space for diapers, cups, etc. If dad is significantly taller than mom be sure to consider one with a long strap so that it fits more comfortably.
A Second Car Seat
Car seats can be expensive but if dad drives separately he will need his own. You do not need to go all out and get a top of the line seat with all the bells and whistles that mom may prefer. Since it may only be used a few times per month look for one that gets good safety ratings and skip the extras. A store brand may have all the safety features of a name brand but without the additional costs. If you know what type of vehicle he drives that can be helpful which picking between a newer model latch system or one that has traditional seat belt buckles. If you are unsure he can always return it for one that fits. Most stores now offer a gift receipt which will allow him to exchange the seat without revealing what you paid for the item.
A Fun Novelty Gift
You may want to let dad know that you are thinking about him too but not want to spend much money. If so a cute novelty gift might be the perfect idea. Consider ear plugs, extra bold coffee, or energy drinks for those long sleepless nights. You could also give him a box of disposable gloves for his first diaper change. Just anything small to let him know you thought of him will be appreciated.
Although dad may not get (or want) his own baby shower it's nice to think of him too and get him a gift. You can get him something he will actually put to good use or if you are on a budget just a fun gift will put a smile on his face.
