Are You Losing Weight The Right Way?

If losing weight is necessary for you there is a right way and a wrong way to do it

. If you do it the wrong way and reduce your calorie intake too much you can send your body into what is called 'metabolic stress' which is a self protection mechanism we have had since ancient times.

If food intake is lowered too far and when not enough glucose is present it triggers chemicals that automatically slow the metabolism in an effort to conserve fuel. Sending your body into metabolic stress is one of those hidden defeaters that shuts down fat burning sending even the most dedicated person trying to lose weight to hit a brick wall with their efforts. Not many people even know what it is or what causes it, but many unfortunately experience the damage it can do.

If your body suffers metabolic stress which can also be known as 'diet shock' it causes an imbalance in the entire metabolism effecting hormones and chemicals that keep your body running smoothly. If continued over a long period of time you can go on to develop more serious health issues as it develops into metabolic syndrome.

You can trigger this condition by reducing carbohydrate intake too much when trying to lose weight. The body worries that there is a food shortage and it is going to be long-lasting so it takes action and starts cutting down on energy output to conserve fuel. The result is less glucose is needed by the body's cells and you become insulin resistant as well as which means your blood sugar levels can remain high if you slip off your diet or are yo-yo dieting.

Sending your body into this state is totally counterproductive to losing weight and more importantly you are doing long term damage to your body. This is no way to build a strong, lean, healthy, slim body. For starters how can you put some effort into a proper strength training exercise program which you must be doing if you wish to lose weight if you have little energy?

Only by toning up your muscles can you expect to increase your metabolism as your muscle tissue is what drives you metabolic rate. You need it to be burning fuel (calories) faster every minute of the day and night if you 1) wish to lose weight 2) keep it off.

A better plan is to only drop one to two hundred calories and keep yourself 'under the radar' of your bodies protective starvation mode. Eat more not less, 4-6 small meals each with a portion of protein and the balance made up of vegetables. Eat every 2-3 hours throughout the day so you keep your metabolic furnace stoked and burning fuel.

Get yourself started on your strength training program, get stuck in and make the changes you need to make to your body so it changes from a fat storing model to a fat burning model. No other type of activity or exercise can do this only strength training.

Not only will you become slimmer and trimmer over time your body will not be suffering. Working with your body is the only way to the body of your dreams.
