Alternative Treatment For Bacterial Vaginitis-easy Treatment For Bv
Alternative treatment for bacterial vaginitis is a fast and economical way to deal
with this horrible condition which can make a sufferer's life an absolute misery.
Bacterial vaginitis is by far the most common reason for fishy smelling vaginal discharge. Although the symptoms can sometimes be mild and clear up without intervention, more often than not, they just get worse, causing unbearable itching and burning. However, for most women, the worst part of this condition is the odor, as this causes extreme embarrassment when in company and at times there seems to be very little which a woman can do to get rid of the smell. Rather ironically, repeated washing can make matters even worse.
Under normal circumstances, the pH levels within the vagina are mildly acidic and this supports the healthy bacteria which helps to maintain overall vaginal health. When something causes the conditions to become alkaline, harmful bacteria is produced and overtakes the levels of "good" bacteria and it is this which causes the symptoms. Alternative treatment for bacterial vaginitis focuses on strengthening and enhancing the beneficial bacteria by using a combination of methods.
Although antibiotics are sometimes given to treat BV, their effectiveness is severely limited as they only treat the symptoms and not the root cause. What they can do, is kill off the harmful bacteria, but unfortunately, they cannot distinguish between good and bad bacteria so they will kill off the beneficial bacteria too. This means that as soon as the antibiotics have finished working and bacteria begins to repopulate the vagina, the beneficial bacteria takes longer to build up and the symptoms will start again.
Indeed, it's a well-known fact that over 70% of women who suffer from BV will have a repeat attack within a few short weeks.
One good alternative treatment for bacterial vaginitis is probiotic yogurt. This can be either eaten of placed in the vagina via a tampon which has been pre-soaked. The live bacteria in probiotic yogurt can help to replenish the depleted supplies in the vagina. Tea tree oil can also be very helpful as it is a powerful antibacterial substance and yet is kind to the body. A few drops added to the bathwater can really get you on the road to recovery.
Prompt action is always a good idea if you have BV as although not dangerous in the early stages, if left untreated BV can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and even infertility. If you have had bacterial vaginitis for longer than three days, it is advisable to take positive action.
