Fontana Trace is located on lovely eleven thousand seven hundred acre Fontana Lake, with a shorefront of 240 miles. Fontana Lake is located in Western North Carolina, near Bryson City. 90% of the land encircling the lake is the property of the National Park Service and the US Forest Service. Concealed well inside the Pisgah National Forest, the Fontana Trace community is fairly small, covering two hundred and fifty acres and seventy houses. Its paltry homeowner's fees assure that it remains a very inexpensive community. Fontana Trace has a harbor on the lake for boating and fishing, a resort style pool, well-kept hiking trails, locations for outdoor cooking and picnics, and a clubhouse with a great room and a place to cook which is available to rent for occasions. It's a great pick for retirement.

Up in the mountains in Western North Carolina, approximately 40 minutes off Bryson City is Lake Santeetlah. Lake Santeetlah is around three thousand acres amidst the 1,350,000-acre Nantahala National Forest and home to a 10 acre community known as Santeetlah Lakeside. It is certainly one of the most excellent spots for retirement snowbirds. Houses on the lakefront have a dock for themselves and residences with a view of the lake have an assigned dock in the community's marina. The community has an outdoor hearth, a room for games, a clubhouse on the lake with a roofed deck, canoe/kayak storage, and a launching area and hiking trails.

Continuing up into the mountains of Western North Carolina we find the Grey Rock at Lake Lure. The lake has an area of approximately 720 acres. The surrounding cities and towns are Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Asheville (22 miles), and Charlotte (about two hours). Grey Rock is a wonderful Carolina retirement community of 4,000 acres and nine hundred houses. Facilities include a lakeside clubhouse with docks, lots of free space, and hiking trails. You can go fishing in the rivulets and brooks, and two thousand five hundred acres are set aside for greenery. Proposed facilities comprise tennis, a pool, horse riding and a helipad.

Lake Hickory is an elongated slender lake of four thousand one hundred acres. The Lake Hickory area has been increasing of late as a result of its proximity to large cities. Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Asheville are not very far away. The Oliver's Landing community will enable you to have it all. It is 306 acres, with 330 homes proposed. The amenities cover an 18-hole partly restricted golf course planned by Karl Litton, tutorials, tournament play, pro shop, private boat launch, clubhouse and casual dining.

One of the most sizzling real estate markets in North Carolina is Lake Norman, positioned in the middle of the state. Lake Norman is 32,000 acres and home to Morrison Plantation. Morrison Plantation is a four hundred thirty acre community, with four hundred and fifty residences, and is located in the vicinity of Mooresville. It has stayed reasonably priced in a locality where homes can attain staggering prices. The community has an onsite grocery store, cafeteria, volleyball, soccer fields, basketball, parks, cycling and walking trails, YMCA, pool, clubhouse, great room, community boat ramp and dock, and convention center.
