If you have decided it's time to shed some pounds but you are not ready for a hard to follow diet
, here are some tips that will help you achieve that lean body you always wanted:
1. Stop drinking juices. Beverages are a high source of calories and it seems we cannot have enough of them. This is especially true whenever we eat at a restaurant due to the fact that we are always provided with free refills. One way of avoiding getting too much sugar intro our bodies is to order water, or soft unsweetened drinks such as lemonade or ice tea. However, if you cannot say no to a cold glass of coke, ask for more ice as this will make you drink less.
2. Don't skip breakfast. Your body requires energy even after a good night's sleep therefore it is important to have a hearty breakfast. If you do not eat in the morning your body will starve and your appetite will increase throughout the day and this can lead to some very poor food choices like overeating and ordering fast food. Not eating in the morning can also cause your metabolism to slow down and your body will store fat as a result.
3. Drink a lot of water. Water hydrates your body and you should drink 6-8 ounces of water daily. There are a lot of people that do not get enough water and they do not "feel full" and therefore they eat instead of having a glass of water. Do not drink water only when you are thirsty, but sip throughout the day.
4. Eat more veggies. Vegetables are full of vitamins and nutrients and are very filling. But make sure to avoid dipping sauces and dressings. If you feel that veggies are boring you can make salsa or soups. Try to also eat the skin of the vegetables as this contains fiber. It takes a longer time for your body to digest fiber therefore you will fill full a longer time.
5. Have a salad before a big meal. This will prevent you from overeating but again, stay away from any cheesy creams and dressings. Use salt, pepper, lemon juice or vinegar instead. Even most fast food restaurant offer salads and it would be a good idea to have one before eating that double cheese burger that is full of calories.
