According to the FDA, many of the soap bars available on the market cannot be considered 'soap' at all, and are instead labeled as 'beauty bar' or 'bath bar'. These harsh cleansers contain chemical detergents which clean skin (or even floors) by stripping all the oils off the surface. Our skin contains natural oils which balance, hydrate and protect it. To compensate for lost moisture these oils are replaced with chemically composed petroleum, humectants, surfactants, etc. Another culprit we'd like to call out is Sodium Tallowate. Tallow is a highly saturated fat derived from beef and mutton.
