When Should You Plan on Having a Large Wedding
?
Some people may not be able to imagine life without a big wedding, while others may not be able to get their head around the idea. Weddings can clearly either be small and intimate events or frenetic, large events full of action and spectacle. It would be nice to state that your wedding is up to you and that you are in control of each and every aspect of it. Yet, for those of us who have gone through the wedding process before, we know all too well that this isn't necessarily the case.
From the time you send out your wedding invitations, you likely have an idea in your mind of what your wedding will be like. Quite often a wedding is not a "let's just see what happens" kind of event. This is due in no small part to the fact that relatives and friends have to travel from all around the country or even the world to attend. That means a well-timed event that is planned far in advanced. A large wedding can be a lot of work, and this may leave many people wondering when they should have a large wedding.
Let's face facts, not everyone has an option in whether or not they are going to have a large or small wedding. For many couples, family pressures and demands will dictate a large wedding, regardless of what the couple may ultimately want. Oftentimes this force of nature is one that just can't be resisted, and one has little recourse other than to "go with it." If you find yourself in this situation, then you may feel that your decision has largely already been made for you. However, for others, more flexibility may exist.
If you do have a large family and they live in close proximity to you, then the pressure for you to have a decent sized wedding is perhaps more intense. However, if you do have a large extended family living nearby, you may also be able to take advantage of a good deal of extra help as well. Free labor may come with some strings attached, such as spending time with that one particular aunt or cousin that you don't really like. However, at least the price is right!
Family considerations are not the only considerations in planning a large wedding. Whether or not you personally want a large wedding should be at the very top of your list. A large wedding is not for everyone, but for those who long for one, there is just no substitution.
