There is always a slight chance that the outer shell could rupture or split, although this does not happen very often. If the silicone is of the firm variety it cannot leak out even if the split is a large one. This means there is no danger to the patient and it will still give a natural feel and appearance.
The second option a woman can go for with the approval of her plastic surgeon is the saline implant. This works by using a saline solution which consists of simple salt and water. As you can imagine, this uses more fluid than silicone implants. Although it is not generally as popular, the big advantage is that if any of the solution should leak out into the body it will not cause any harm. This is because it does not contain anything that is alien to the human body.
Silicone implants are by far the more popular option and many women like the natural appearance they have. Although saline implants are perfectly safe, if they should rupture at any stage they go down virtually immediately. This is visible externally so it could be disappointing if you opt for these and you are unlucky in this way. The surgeon should be able to show you each type of implant before your surgery, so you can see exactly how they look and feel.
Opting for a
breast enlargement is a major decision to make. The more you understand about the different options available to you prior to the procedure taking place, the better the final result will be and the happier you will feel with it.
