Weight Loss Pills: Effective Or Money-waster
You have probably heard or read some advertisement stints about weight loss pills
describing their products as miraculous, overnight weight loss, no-sweat route to weight loss and more. It may sound too good to be true, it is because they probably are. There haven't been any weight loss products that could provide any weight loss results all by itself. Almost all successful weight loss is boosted by exercise and healthy choices of foods.
Let's have a review of most used ingredients for weight loss in order for us to weigh down how useful and safe it would be. But first, there are two categories for weight loss pills, the prescription and over-the-counter weight loss pills.
Prescription drugs are those that are made from ingredients known to have surpassed clinical tests and have been proven safe and effective to use. It has also been stamped with a seal of approval from health-related agencies. But unlike other weight loss pills they can only be bought with a prescription from medical doctors. It is recommended for people who have severe cases of obesity wherein their health are being put to risk because of this condition.
Over-the-counter ones is the opposite of the former type of weight loss pills. It can be easily bought from herbal stores, online stores and some medicinal stores as well. Unlike prescription drugs, most of these weight loss pills have not been tested scientifically and its manufacturers come up with huge advertisement stints and uses celebrity endorsers just to make their product known. Most of the time, these weight loss pills targets only one aspect of weight loss which can be categorized as fat burn, metabolic enhancer and appetite suppression. Some may actually work but others may seem to put one's health at risk rather than addressing weight loss issues.
Not all ingredients labeled as natural and organic are indeed safe. There were many reported cases of herbal formulations that have caused serious damage to the health of dieters and the most popular of all is ephedrine.
Ephedrine was initially used for relief from respiratory ailments and asthma attacks. Later on it was found to be useful in losing weight among its users hence it was then been the most included ingredients when it comes to weight loss pills. But after some time, dieters have been experiencing nausea, headaches, drowsiness, sleeplessness and the most alarming of all is that there were cases of reported death. Because of this it was banned by the FDA from being used among weight loss products.
Diuretics and laxatives are common ingredients for weight loss pills. Indeed it may cause one to lose weight but after dieters have stopped from using it, the weight that was lost would soon be regained and more.
In general, the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is to engage in healthy choices of foods and having a regular exercise regimen. Weight loss does not happen overnight. There are no magic potions that would make all those fatty layers disappear in a short period of time because it took years before coming to that stage. Weight loss pills or supplements should only be used in order to boost the process of weight loss but not to fully rely on it for the purpose.
