Weight Loss Failure

Have you ever tried or planned to lose weight

? What are your weight loss methods? Were you

successful in reducing weight?

Studies have shown that almost half of the population in the United States wanted to lose

weight. Unfortunately, they were not able to set realistic motivations and goals thats why they

fail in meeting their objectives. Frustration, disappointment, helplessness and anger are some of

the emotions that are felt by people who failed their weight loss aims.

Here are some reasons why people are not losing weight:

1. Overeating. You have to be serious with what you eat if you really want to lose weight.

It doesnt mean that you have to eat minimal amount of food right away. You could start

by being specific with what you eat. Keep a detailed nutritional journal for a week and if

you can, try to measure the nutrient and calorie content of the food that you have each

day. This is because you could be eating more than what your body could take. Aside

from that, you have to be aware that as we age, our metabolism drops. Try to look at the

brighter side of things. Focus on foods that are allowed. In this way, you could develop a

craving for healthier items.

2. Lack of exercise. You do want to lose weight, right? If so, you have to sweat it out,

exercise! You have to burn the excess calories that you have consumed. Keeping a

healthy diet is just a part of the game, exercising is the other half. Find time to exercise

at least 30 minutes a day. If you are too busy to exercise for 30 minutes, try to have mini

workouts instead. You could do a 15 minute mini exercise in the morning and the other

15 minute mini workout at night.

3. Dieting on a holiday season. This is actually a very unrealistic goal. When you begin a

diet during or near a holiday season, you would only end up having a crashed diet. Start

your diet at least one month before a major occasion or a holiday. In this way, you would

be giving your body enough time to lessen cravings for unhealthy foods.

4. Lack of Sleep. Sleep deprivation will only lead to weight gain. Studies have shown that

lack of sleep is associated with changes in the metabolism of the body that could result

to obesity and overeating. Not having enough sleep could also add up stress to the

body. That is because when a person have little amount of sleep and rest, the body

tends to release more stress hormone called cortisol. Cortisol in turn, releases insulin

which promotes the storage and development of fat in the body. Aside from the physical

effects of sleep deprivation, it also causes a person to be easily irritated, confused and

cranky.

Losing weight will only be difficult in the beginning. Be motivated and be optimistic about your

goal. In the long run, when you have learned to overcome a lot of obstacles, you would be

enjoying the health benefits of weight loss.
