With your wedding day fast approaching you will want the best wedding gown
. With so many choices, price range and variety in the market, you need to shop wisely. All of us are in different shapes and sizes, some maybe tall, short, thin or curvy, therefore you need to find the perfect gown that will ensure you are a beautiful bride. It is very important to get the gown that suits your body type; otherwise you maybe stuck with a bridal dress that looks drab and ill-fitting on you. Before you go shopping also try to determine what kind of dresses you like to wear and keep that in mind while shopping. If you like to wear traditional dresses get a long gown, if you are glamorous, go for a gown accordingly. This is why there are different styles to suit everybody; here are the five basic styles of a wedding gown.
A Line or Princess Gown
The A-line dress is fitted in the body around the bodice and flows out to the ground, basically resembling the outline of a capital A. The dress flows fluidly from the bust to the hem, in an unbroken line. Due to its timeless and simple style, this kind of a dress is appropriate for any occasion, from a quiet backyard gathering, to a traditional church ceremony. This type of a dress can be worn by all tall or short, but usually it is worn as the skirt slims and hides a heavier lower body. This dress also adds extra height to the person wearing it, and enhances the best features, making the body look narrower and slimmer. You may also make simple changes to the fabric or neckline to accentuate/hide your best and worst features.
Empire Gown
These gowns are usually recommended for women who are small in size or do not have a defined waistline. With a square neckline the gown has a raised waistline which is exactly below the bust and flows to the ground. They are also elegant and can be worn for outdoor, casual weddings, as well as for a fancy church wedding. The main attraction of this kind of a gown is the placement of the waistline. The sleeves maybe full, capped, half or sleeveless, depending on your personal choice. This dress is ideal for concealing short legs or a heavy upper body. The fabric needs to be light and soft, in order to flow freely to the ground.
Column or Sheath Gown
This kind of a dress has a very slim or narrow shape flowing straight down from neckline to hem. It hugs the body and enhances your curves. This kind of a wedding dress is perfect for a laid back casual affair as well as an elegant one. This is a simple dress, so if wanted you can add some trims that will make it stand out. You can choose from a variety of halter necklines or even opt for a backless style. For all those looking for a combination of glamour and tradition this is your best bet. You need to remember that this style is body hugging hence you may not be very comfortable in a tight dress, if you are not used to it. You may try it on for a short period to see how comfortable you are in the dress.
Full Skirt or Ball Gown
These gowns suit many people and give a fairy tale bride look, and hence many women opt for this style. The bodice is basically fitted and the skirt is very full. You may alter them as you want sleeveless, strapless; choose from the different necklines and length of the sleeve, you can even add some gloves for a princess effect. They are best on those with a slender figure or pear-shapes, as the specialty of the full skirt is that it hides large hips and thighs. These gowns are best suited for a large, traditional wedding. They are usually not recommended for short women as they may not have the height to pull this style off, and may end up looking even shorter than they really are. The fabric is very important in this style as you may need additional layers to keep up with the fluidity of the dress.
Mermaid Gown
Finally you have a dress that will show off your perfect figure. If you have sweated it out in the gym and gone on a strict diet before your wedding, look no further to flaunt off you figure. This style is called so because it is contoured against the body up to the knee, then the gown flares out to the hem. As the mermaid style hugs the entire body and giving you a very glamorous look, you need to be sure you have the right figure to pull this kind of a dress off; otherwise your full figure may end up look plump. This style draws attention to your figure and gives you loads of sex-appeal and at the same time is elegant enough to be worn on any kind of a wedding.
