Wedding Dresses: Which Is Right For You?

The big event of 2011 had little to do with politics or intrigue in many places around the world

, there was major excitement generated by a wedding, including a whole lot of talk about wedding dresses. The wedding of Prince William of the United Kingdom and Kate Middleton was the talk of not only the town, but the world, and there was a lot of focus on all the details involved, especially what she was going to wear for the special event.

Not everyone's wedding will followed by millions around the world and so carefully documented, but to every woman, her wedding day is going to be a very special day for her, and it's important that the wedding dresses she considers are perfect for her.

If your special day is coming up, you have many sources of inspiration, even looking beyond the bridal shops and magazines. Just take a peek at any award shows. Many of the gowns the actresses wear on the red carpet are nothing more than re-colored wedding gowns. Imagine them in white or off-white, and it's easy to see them wearing them in a marriage ceremony.

While many of these outfits are complex, or even flat-out unusual, sometimes simple is best. For instance, imagine starting with a simple shift design and working from there. Every woman is different, with different features she wants to enhance. Fortunately, the sheer number of possibilities to be found in wedding dresses can make them perfectly beautiful on anyone. Each detail should enhance your natural beauty, whether it be a plunging V neckline or a higher, capped neckline. You may choose sheer panels to show skin in various parts, or you might prefer a more demure dress. The important thing to remember it's about you, and making what's best about you shine.

2012 may see a few trends returning or making a brand new appearance in wedding dresses, giving you even more choices for what to wear on your trip down the aisle.

Bows are certainly something to consider, whether tiny ones along the waist, or the traditional large bow in the back.

Sleeves are entirely up to you. While Kate Middleton wore lacy sleeves on her gown, that doesn't necessarily mean everyone has to do the same now. Sleeveless or strapless wedding dresses are still in the majority, sometimes covered with a simple lace shrug, but often not for those women who don't mind showing off their shoulders and arms. While a strapless gown is certainly a timeless classic, there is also a great deal of good to be said for straps which allow for a low back or a plunging neckline.

Lace is a perennial favorite for wedding gowns, and shows no sign of losing its popularity. How much lace, again, is up to you. Layers and layers of lace might be just the look for you, or you might just want the headpiece to have lace. Or of course, you could avoid lace altogether.

The point is that what you wear on your wedding date should feel right to you. You'll see yourself in that certain dress and know it's the one you want to wear. There are many, many Wedding dresses out there, one of which is just perfect for you on that special day.
