Walking On A Treadmill Going Nowhere Is Not Going To Get The Best Fat Loss Results
For the last few decades exercise methods for fat loss have been stuck in a groove of 'cardio' type activity
. Talk about walking on a treadmill going nowhere. You may have heard that more is better and spending 30-40 minutes doing some sort of low intensity activity in some mythical 'fat burning zone' is good and more is even better.
We have known for some time now that this type of low intensity activity is not the best and most efficient way to burn excess body fat. Sure it burns some calories while you are doing it but the problem is that stops dead once you stop the activity and there is little to zero 'after burn'.
This means that you need to do loads of it just to burn a few hundred calories and it does nothing to boost your metabolism (your body's engine) so you are burning more fuel (calories) long after the exercise session is over. You can never make a physique transformation with this type of activity alone.
In fact, this type of exercise can actually be counterproductive for your goals of burning excess body fat off. Doing long duration activity calls upon your stored body fat during the session. While this sounds great it can actually cause your body to store more fat in reserve to have ready for your next session. Not so good news.
As you are generally only working within low levels of your aerobic capacity your fitness level is not improved and strength in your muscles is certainly not built. You should be challenging your body to increase its strength and fitness. The best and fastest way to boost your metabolism, burn fat way faster and build lifelong health is to build and maintain your muscle tissue through proper strength training exercise.
Just a couple of pounds (you will not really notice it) of highly active fat gobbling muscle tissue will transform your body from a fat storing one to a lean mean fat burning one. This new tissue needs fuel to feed itself so it will be using some of those calories you have stored on your hips...and around your waistline for its fuel source. Good news if weight loss is your goal.
The best news is that a proper strength training program is so much quicker and more efficient so even the busiest person can fit it into their week. Just 2-3 sessions are all that is needed if some effort is put into the session. When you get into a more advanced level you will need even less time each week as what you are doing is intense and will produce the most results in the shortest possible time.
Once you get going and see the results for yourself it is unlikely that you would ever want to go back to inefficient exercise methods that are best buried in the fitness cemetery. We need to keep ourselves updated on the benefits of proper exercise that involves the muscular system directly and will get us a strong lean healthy body in the fastest time frame.
