Also take the time to discover Lake Powell, Created by the Glen Canyon Dam, this giant lake has more miles of shoreline than the entire Pacific coast of the USA. Take walking trails, rent a boat, try water-skiing or relax in the sun.
Continue east from the Grand Canyon and you'll hit Monument Valley - a spectacular, colourful desert which you might recognise if you're a Wild West film fan! If you're not, you'll still be impressed by the huge, bizarre-shaped rock formations called buttes and mesas.
