Things To Consider When Picking Your Wedding Date

Things To Consider When Picking Your Wedding Date

While planning your special day, one of the most important steps is to pick the date. You think something as simple as choosing your wedding day would be easy, but sometimes it can be a pain in the butt. Here are some of my tips when it comes to choosing your "I Do- Date"

Step 1: Prioritize:

Before even considering a date, make a list of things that are important to you for your wedding and rank them by importance. Consider symbolic dates (anniversary of your parents wedding, the day you and your fianc met, culturally significant dates, and other dates that are important to you and your fianc). Consider seasons; is there a specific season you absolutely must get married in? Try your best to plan ahead, so you're able to book everything you want for your special day.

Step 2: Decide what day of the week you would prefer

The most common day of the week for weddings is Saturday, because generally this day is the most convenient for guests. However, consider pricing. Saturdays are typically the most expensive day of the week to tie the knot. Perhaps consider a Friday or Sunday wedding to save money.

Step 3: Be Flexible and Considerate of Guests:

Your wedding is a celebration for you and you fianc but remember to consider important guests that will be affected by the date you choose. Keep in mind the schedules of close family and friends that are attending your wedding. be flexible with your date and adjust it accordingly. You don't want to have to leave someone out of your wedding, because they have other important engagements that they've already agreed to attend. Consider making a list of the guests you are closest with and call them to check to see if their schedule conflicts.

Step 4: Consider Holidays:

These days can set a theme or add festive spirit to your wedding. They can also be very romantic and fun. However, keep in mind these dates book up quickly and are generally less budget friendly. Also keep in mind, some guests may be unable to attend on certain holidays. Watch out for the easy to remember wedding date combinations like 11/11/11 anything that's easy to remember you're guarenteed will be a busy date. So if you are getting married on one of these easy to remember combinations then book early to avoid disappointment.

Step 5: Keep your date Flexible:

Venues are booked quickly and sometimes couples are unable to book the exact day they want. This is where you need to make a choice of whether to change the date or the venue. Local festivities also need to be considered (graduations, festivals, etc), because they book up hotels and other venues quickly. Having a flexible date allows you to get exactly what you want for your dream wedding.

Good luck!
