Selling these reconditioned items is alright for these merchandisers as they still rake in their profits even while retailing these substandard items. It is the consumer who is placed at a big disadvantage when buying the cheap refrigerator, as it would not be able to perform to expectations or will not last long in the hands of the consumer.
Other reasons for the cheapness in price include having minor damages sustained by the refrigerator while being transported, such as dents and scratches. Even if the refrigerator is still functioning well, the store could not charge the normal price anymore because of the damages sustained in shipping. During these instances, when the unit is still functioning properly, it would be alright to purchase it regardless of its cheap tag price.
Sometimes the branded and quality refrigerators are tagged with a cheap price when a sale season comes up. It is up to you to get the right timing in taking advantage of these bargain opportunities. There are also instances when big discounts are offered by the stores on selected quality items in order to be able to move their merchandise.
