This will limit your spending to some degree and you won't be surprised by how much you are going to be charged by your credit card company. Your finances will greatly benefit if you have some knowledge and understanding of what you truly want and need. Prepare a list of the stuffs you want to buy before going out shopping, this will greatly save time remembering and more importantly save money. If a new gadget or tech comes out, wait until some time and decide on how important it will be in your daily life.
Doing some of these things and setting some rules on yourself will not make you an instant millionaire but it will keep you from getting into debt and a make your wallet happy. Your partner will be happy that you did something to improve your situation.
