So I made a boo boo. I judgeda book by its name, not just cover. But tell me very honestly, wouldnt a title like The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ intrigue you as well? Imagine the paradoxical nature of the title and the theological challenge that it entails! Who does not like to get caught in the eye of controversy, particularly when it does not blow up in your face? Eh?
But as I started reading it, I realized that this book was worth every buck that I paid for it. Because it contains stories within stories and all with a wonderful premise. Indeed the very concept of the philosophy and theology have been challenged. And novelist Philip Pullman chose one of the most intricate ways to describe that.
And all the while that I kept reading, I kept getting Biblical visions in my head, echoing the tale of Kane and Abel. Run to an online bookstore like uread.com and find a copy. When you read it, think of it on the Kane and Abel line and contemplate the reality behind the two tale. If I tell anymore, I will be giving out a lot and I want you to be just intrigued by the title. The rest you can figure out as you read the book.
So buy the book online and you will realize that this is just not a normal tale. This is no Dan Brown and I can be damned (wrong choice of words though) if the book is historically insignificant, but the tale it tells is bang on the T.
