The Beginnings Of The Doberman Pincher Warlock

If you have considered buying a Doberman dog before

, you may have initiated some information research and come to see dog owners getting rid of the "Warlock" breed. Sometimes they are called King Pinchers or Goliath Dobers. The fundementals of using the Warlock nickname is to give the impression of a bigger, better Doberman. The Warlock Dober became popular through the mid 1970's, at the height of the breed's popularity. Non-preffesional breeders made up the Warlock nickname as a sales benefit.

Buyers believed that bigger was better for a dog, so they required the biggest, fiercest asthetically looking Pinscher they could buy. Any breeders that were interested in producing money, rather than making a quality breed, bred their litters into Great Danes to get the bigger size. Some doberman breeds were bred with Rottweilers to get a stockier, more mean looking canine. They tried to pass these dogs off as purebred Pinschers and billed more per purchase for the special name.

The breeders in the business for profit, either didn't realise or lost track the true purpose for the luxurious Pincher. The doberman was developed to a end result that should sculpt the job it was supposed to do. In order to be an effective protection dog, the Doberman needs, quickness, muscle and agility. The taller and heavier the doberman, the more they redue these personality areas. It can also be unhealthy for a Doberman dog to be oversized. It puts more strain on the joints and the heart. A ideal Pinscher can be no wider than 27 inches at the shoulder blades for a male dog and around 25 inches to a bitch.

These dogs should not be huge, unwelcoming, vicious warning dogs. Dobermans are actually soft, affectionate, loyal and intelligent. In the 1970's, when Pinschers became more popular, they were seen and made out to be as fierce breeds that could tear people into pieces. For some reason, lots of people enjoyed this image and required this breed of dog. It has taken many years of precise mixing to overcome and bring the Pinschers back to its true persona and measurments.

So, where abouts has the tough "Warlock" allias derive from? In the nineteen fifties in Florida, Two people called Theodosia and Henry Frampton bred a litter of Dobermans and one of the little ones became extremely friendly toward Henry. Henry named the puppy 'Borong the Warlock'. The dog was actually a standard build male Doberman, with a steady, caring temperament. He liked human company and displayed little problems with other four legged friends. Henry began to show Borong and trained him in obedience. After that he earned the Champion award. When Borong was a little older, he quickly became a favourite stud and sired a great number of litters. His pups made him to be one of the greatest sires of his era. Borong the Warlock died not long after Henry Frampton died.

Borong's allias, the Warlock, and his name for being a popular Champion, helped make his fame. Part of the offspring were rumoured to be in a part of Texas and it's thought the fame started there. Either way it began, the legend has esculated, and to the present day the Warlock breed allias is used to sell oversized, ill bred Dobermans.
