The Beauty of Loose Diamonds

The Beauty of Loose Diamonds

When you think of diamonds, you generally think of a ring or earrings. You might even think of cubic zirconium because of how often it is used as a replacement for diamonds. Diamonds are nearly always seen set into a precious metal of some sort. It's just how it normally works. However, some companies offer diamonds that are not set in any type of metal. They are cut into a certain shape, are generally perfect and do not have any problems or issues.

Part of the reason that loose diamonds have to be perfect is because if there is an imperfection in a diamond, it can usually be covered up to some degree by how it is mounted into the ring, earrings, necklace, etc. However, diamonds that are not set do not have this potential. They must be perfect or near perfect in order to be sold by themselves.

However, also keep in mind that there is nothing quite like holding a diamond not partially encased in metal. It's mesmerizing and interesting. You're able to see all the facets of the diamond, even those usually covered by gold or some other material. You're able to see its symmetry and how perfect the diamond is. It allows you to get a better gauge of the diamond's personality.

Either way, loose diamonds are unique and pretty awesome. There's something extra special about seeing the light reflect all over your hands, creating highlights and shadows and the like.

You may also be wondering what to look for when it comes to lose diamonds. In which case, it is pretty simple.

1.Clarity. Most diamonds have almost no visible inclusions. These are what are hid by mounting in inferior diamonds. Now, it's difficult to find a diamond with perfect clarity and no inclusions, but it can be done. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with a diamond with a few minor inclusions. When it has a very few inclusions, they aren't visible to the naked eye. You have to use a magnifying glass in order to see just how many there are.

2.Is the diamond certified? There is usually a certificate posted or an example of a certificate shown so that you know what to look for. It also helps you to root out fake diamonds in the case that you purchase from someone else who claims to represent them. You can compare certificates before the purchase and make sure that they aren't scam artists or other crooks.

3.It isn't always required, but it helps if you can see how much each individual carat of the diamond costs. Now, keep in mind that loose diamonds are pretty much flawless and therefore are going to be a bit steep. You can't help that and neither can the jeweler. It's simply the way it works. On the other hand, look at what you're buying. It's not something they can just dig up in their back yards or grow like potatoes. It's valuable and it's worth it.
