, except maybe for dandelions. Mother Nature has provided us such a wide variety of blossoms to admire, and a great many of these plants we have been able to grow in our own homes. One of these beautiful plants in question is the orchid plant.Orchids were once only grown by the wealthy, but now orchids can be grown by almost anyone. Orchids are still considered one of the most delicate and beautiful flowers, and can not only be used to beautify your home or office but are popular in weddings and other such grandiose events. The orchid blossom is strong enough to be placed directly on a wedding cake, be a boutonnire, or even be part of a tabletop centerpiece.There are four different types of orchids: the Epiphytes, the Terrestrials, the Lithophytes, and the Climbing Epiphytes. The Epiphytes' roots prefer air over soil, and the Terrestrials are the opposite, as they need a soil or some sort of substance the roots can grow on or in. The Lithophytes can grow in little soil, and Climbing Epiphytes are those which live on trees.The Terrestrials, also known as the Cymbidium, were the first orchids to be grown by man; this orchid is commonly found in nurseries. Florists usually choose the Cattleya, which has a light scent to it; the Paphiopedilum family is usually striped or spotted with broad leaves and prefers indirect lighting.I think every time that I am in the garden area of my local home improvement store and I see the variety of orchid plants and the gorgeous colors of their elegant blossoms that I want to have one in my own home to enjoy. I then think that it's an orchid, and that the care is too difficult for me; I am so silly, I should know better than to think that. If the plant is in the nursery to buy, then I can care for it accordingly.Taking into consideration the environment in which I found the orchid of my dreams and the environment of my home, I should be able to easily place the orchid for it to continue to be healthy and to provide those ornate blossoms that I chose the plant for. In addition, caring for the orchid is basically the same as for the other plants that I already have in my home. I need to meet the same requirements of the right soil, water, light, and temperature.Use the pot that you bought the orchid in as long as possible. If you want it in a different pot, try placing the store-bought pot directly into the decorative pot. Place your orchid in a similar environment to which you bought the plant. Away from direct sunlight and from drafts, but it must have indirect lighting of some kind. Water only when needed and use water at a tepid temperature, as this will not shock the plant as compared to cold or hot water.Don't forget to fertilize; if this is something that slips your mind, just use a fertilizer stick and you'll be just fine. As we have just learned, orchid plants are not only beautiful, but also easy to care for.
