One step to losing weight is monitoring your food intake. When you were pregnant you may have altered how much you ate. You will now need to go back to your healthy eating styles. Eat your fruits and vegetables and your lean proteins. Keeping your calories in check will also help.

Exercising is another way to help you shed unwanted baby weight. You need to add exercise in slowly. This is not something to just drop right into. If you had a Cesarean section you will need to get approval from your doctor. You do not want to take a chance in injuring yourself because you jumped back into exercise too early.

Breast feeding has also helped women to lose weight. This is entirely a personal choice for you and your family. You sometimes burn a extra five hundred calories when you are breastfeeding your baby. Be sure you are eating enough for your baby and your own nutritional needs. When you are breastfeeding you need to take in at least fifteen hundred calories to maintain your body as well as producing milk.

Take it easy when getting back into your exercise routines. Do things that can include your newborn. There are many groups who are structured for new moms or moms of toddlers to help lose weight. They have stroller walking groups and other ways you can exercise with your baby.

Start off slow. You did not gain weight over night and it will not come off over night. Just be prepared to eat right, and exercise slowly and it will come off. You may not feel like doing a whole lot for the first few weeks. Know that this is normal and you will start getting back your energy. Being a new parent is hard enough without adding your own worries of your weight loss.

Make sure to get approved by your doctor before starting any exercise program. Drink lots of water and take it easy. Your body will have to get used to exercising and being normal again. You can be on a diet but do not use a crash or fad diet.
