Second Pregnancy Differences - How To Deal Easily With Second Pregnancy

There are significant differences that are noticed by expectant mothers during the course of their first and second pregnancies

. Most women find dealing with a second pregnancy easier as they have already experienced the ups and downs of pregnancy and know what to anticipate. The physical changes that they have experienced during the first pregnancy also give rise to second pregnancy differences.

In most cases, second time expectant mothers feel more exhausted as compared to their first pregnancy as they now have to tend to their first born in addition to coping with the pregnancy. However, they handle the strain well as they are already mentally prepared for this phase. Most women also find the backaches and joint pains that accompany pregnancy tolerable when they get pregnant again. In first time pregnancies, women are known to feel their babys movements around the 20th week of pregnancy. However, in the second pregnancy, women are able to feel movements around the 16th week itself. This is mainly because they know what baby movements feel like and are in a position to recognize the weak kicks as early as the 4th month. In first time pregnancies, expectant mothers usually mistake these light fluttering movements for gas or indigestion. As a result of the prior pregnancy, the abdominal and cervical muscles are usually weaker and hence, pregnant women are advised to be extra careful during subsequent pregnancies. In most cases, the pregnancy progresses with the baby developing lower in the abdomen as compared to the first pregnancy. This element reduces the discomfort experienced while breathing. However, an increase in the frequency to urinate may occur if the uterus presses against the bladder. A second pregnancy showing early is another common difference in the second pregnancy as the uterus does not regain its original size after the first pregnancy. As a result of this, the uterus tends to expand faster and hence, the pregnant belly becomes visible earlier. A second pregnancy delivery may be easier as the cervix is known to dilate faster during consequent pregnancies. However, many women do experience severe postpartum cramping after a second delivery.

It is not uncommon for women who have had absolutely normal first pregnancies to experience complications during their second or subsequent pregnancies. Hence, it is essential for all pregnant women to be careful and to seek the advice of their doctor in case they find anything amiss.
