Scrapbooking: How To Make Your Own Unique Embellishments For A Wedding Layout

, flower bouquets, and hearts. You can use these elements to design your wedding scrapbook.

Ring Embellishments

As rings can be quite complex to cut out, you might as well use rubber stamps to make the job easier. On a square card, stamp and emboss the ring using gold or silver embossing powder. You can refer to your own wedding or engagement ring as the inspiration for the design. Cut out the square and mount it on another piece - one with a contrasting color and a slightly larger size, using a foam pad for dimension. Once done, you have for yourself a personalized ring embellishment.

Cake-shaped Accents

Wedding cake-shaped embellishments can be lovely, but use these as the page's tags instead. If you're working on a whole wedding scrapbook rather than a single layout, you can save time by making a batch of tags. For an easy approach, you can use a die cut shaped like a wedding cakes. These are readily available in eBay.

On the other hand, you can make your own if you have a die cutting machine. A tag adorned with pearls makes a great statement, and you can use white or ivory colors for the design. The sizzix bigz die is best for this. First, cut one from a plain paper and another from a fancier one. Use the plain paper for your journaling. Then, with a souffle pen, make little pearly dots on the fancy paper for an icing effect. You can also put small cut-out flowers with toning colors. Afterwards, stick your journaling on the back and attach the tag on the page using a ribbon. This way, someone can flip it up if they want to read your journal. You can also cut the journaling into a smaller size and mount it on the cake shape. Use a ribbon as well to attach the tag on the scrapbook page.

You can apply the same techniques for shoe decorations. Use flowers in place of buckles, and if you like, you can finish up these tags with glitters.

Floral Designs

You can use floral patterns like the le romantique two-sided paper "loves labyrinth", which contains several rose pairs. First, cut out an entire pattern for your base. Next, cut out and add single elements using silicone glue. Tease the petals for a 3D effect. To complete the design, add tiny spots of clear glitter. This embellishment goes well with the le romantique papers, tags, and frames.

You can also use die cuts or stencils to make flower decors. The "20 Blossoms" from Hot Off The Press makes a good template. Acrylic stamps bearing blossoms of various sizes also work. Just stamp them, cut them out, and layer them together; then curl the petals for a 3D feel. For a modern take, you can stamp swirls and stems from Mindy Terawasa's "Mindy's Flowers". To be more romantic, use vellum for your flower head, add glitter, and glue various flower heads together to craft a beautiful bouquet.

Heart Motif

You can easily create hearts using craft punches. To be more creative, use the strip of paper that contains the hollow heart shapes. Make sure it contrasts your background color. Lay the strip over your background, or put a ribbon below it to make a decorative border. The ribbon adds texture to your design - for a luxurious, shiny effect, go for satin ribbons.

The design possibilities for wedding pages are endless. As you spruce up old patterns or make new ones, allow your quirky personality to reflect in your scrapbook.
