You have to, however, plan your move very methodically so that you can know the results as you progress. In this method you first take up a diet that is low on carb, say 30% carbs, 40% fat and 30% protein.

You start consuming this diet and maintain a log regarding the progress you are making. If you chart your progress you will come to know in a few weeks time whether you are losing weight or gaining weight. Also you can make note of how you are feeling physically.

If you discover that the diet is not working for you then you can switch over to the next diet, which is low fat diet. Low fat diet will consist of 70% carbs, 15% fat and 14% protein. Try out the this diet for a reasonable period and if you still find that it is not working for you, then switch over to the balanced diet which consists of 30% fat, 50% carbs and 20% protein.

If none of these diets work on you, you can try some other diet and similarly track its results. If nothing works, sticking to the balanced diet as this will provide you with body basics. However it has been found that a diet that has a calorific value between 1200 and 1800 will certainly help in losing weight and also maintain the body from the nutritional point of view.

Another method that is being suggested for weight loss is to concentrate on your waistline. If you concentrate in reducing your waistline you will succeed in reducing your overall weight. For this you will be required to do some kind of physical training to sweat it out. If you are not able to devote time for gym workout, you can take up walking, which is an excellent thing to incorporate along with the diet you are currently on.
