Raw Food Diet: There are raw food vegetarians, raw food vegans, raw food omnivores and raw food carnivores. This diet will allow you to lose weight by limiting food to only natural, fresh food that is not cooked. Plant-based and organic foods are the popular raw food choices.

The Zone: This diet focuses on bringing balance to every meal and keeping insulin levels in complete control all day. The dieter will keep their body weight under control this way, and also aid in shedding extra pounds. The Zone dieter aims to have 40 percent carbs, 30 percent fats and 30 percent protein at every meal. Olive oil, avocados and nuts are popular food choices on the Zone diet.

Weight Watchers: This diet is popular because of the social networking aspect. The Weight Watchers dietary plan encourages it's dieters to lose weight by exercising and eating a healthy diet. Dieters can count food points or participate in a Core plan that allows dieters to eat only certain foods.

Atkins Diet: This dietary plan desires to control insulin levels in the body. This plan limits carbohydrate and encourages dieters to eat a high amount of protein, which encourages the body to use stored fat for energy. This plan has three phases for dieters to follow, and dieters are able to go through the phases at their own pace.
